Communications Officer Intern – Football Foundation (Two Positions)

Communications Officer Intern (Two positions) – 13 month year-in-industry work placement

£13,000 stipend

Central London

The Football Foundation is the country’s largest sports charity. We are changing the landscape of grassroots sport in this country by investing in developing new community sports facilities with investment provided by the Premier League, The FA and the Government (via Sport England).  So far the Foundation has supported £1.5 billion worth of local sport projects.

A valuable opportunity now awaits you: the Foundation is offering a year-long work placement to two undergraduate students in full-time education within its Communications Team. The successful candidates will experience a unique year-in-industry placement in the exciting world of football and in a friendly environment. You will be working with famous names from sport and politics and deliver high-level public relations (PR) and communications activities each week.

This is your chance to build an impressive portfolio and be supported with on-the-job training from experienced colleagues. Whilst working closely together, the two interns will have two distinct roles.  One intern’s work will be providing support to applicants around publicity, and helping us secure media coverage.  The other role will be more focused on supporting our digital and social media activity, and providing reports for our Funding Partners.

Key skills & Attributes:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly creative mind and a keen news-sense
  • Planning and organisation; diligence and attention-to-detail
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work under pressure and IT literate

Experience:

  • Some experience in media or PR is ideal but not essential
  • An interest in football is ideal but not essential

If you are interested in this unique opportunity to kick-off an exciting career in PR, then please e-mail jobs@footballfoundation.org.uk with a completed application form that can be downloaded on the link below as well as:

  • Covering letter
  • CV
  • Examples of your work (e.g. blogs, articles or press releases that you have written).

See the reviews of the internship from previous interns at RateMyPlacement.com.

There are two internship places available and the successful applicants will be students on a suitable sandwich degree course requiring a year-in-industry. Please note that you will only be contacted by the charity should you be invited for interview.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 01 December 2017. Interviews are scheduled for early December 2017.

We encourage all applicants to complete the automated equality and diversity monitoring form – accessed through this link – or by using the pdf at the bottom of this page. This confidential form helps the Football Foundation build up a picture of who is applying to join the organisation.

The Football Foundation is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status/civil partnership, or pregnancy and maternity.

The Foundation is looking to develop a workforce that effectively represents the broad, diverse national constituency that we support and which provides for the broadest range of opinions.  While we will appoint on merit, the Foundation is re committed to establishing a workforce that represents a diverse range of backgrounds, knowledge, experience and personal attributes. Accordingly, we would encourage candidates from all walks of life and backgrounds.
